Founder of Choi Mok Pai Late Great Grand Master Lau Sze Chung
Being known as “Saam Gerk Fu” (tiger with three legs), Great Grand Master Lau Sze Chung was also famous as “Yat-Doi-Sun-Ken” (divine fists of genus). Born in the area of Jia Zi in Lu Feng city, Grandmaster Lau Sze Chung had been fond of martial arts since small age. Under the guidance of great skilled fighters he managed to get acquired with many proggressive fighting techniques in just a few years. Grandmaster Lau Sze Chung started to spread his techniques in eparchy Chao Zhou at the age of twenty.
Lau Cze Chung intented to found a Kung Fu school and continue to live peacefully and happily. But suddenly, he had to travel again because he injured seriously an opponent by mistake in a duel, which started when the ownership of his own school was disputed.
During his travel Grandmaster met Cheung Man Wing, an eccentric expert of martial arts who had been born in eparchy Jian Xi. Lau took advantage of their meeting and he managed to penetrate deeply into the spirit of Siu Lam Kung Fu. Being at first a pedant of Ching dynasty, Cheung Man Wing swore to take revenge for his father’s death, throwing away his pen and catching the sword. After the accomplishment of his mission, Cheung Man Wing experienced the medical art and he also withdrew more and more from common people activities. He was a distinguished personality with knowledge in astronomy, geography, injury science and metaphysic philosophy. He travelled to many places including eparchies Guangdong, Guangxi, Human and Jianxi, where he offered medical assistance without taking any money. He wore an old long gown and black shoes looking more like a poor pedant rather than an ecxellent martial art fighter.
When they first met, Cheung and Lau discussed about various issues like being old friends, without making any mention to martial arts. They had the same mentality and common purpose and so they decided to keep travelling together all over the country. After a long time they settled in eparchy Shantow, where Grandmaster Lau started to run his own school and Cheung practised the medical art in the area.
During this period, Cheung Man Wing started to pass his knowledge of Siu Lam Kung Fu to Grandmaster Lau. Even though, he didn’t intend to teach Lau the proggressive techniques he knew, because using his metaphysic abilities, he calculated that Grandmaster would live until the age of 32. Grandmaster Lau knew that Cheung was a profound expert in the art of prophesy and being compeletely sure that people shouldn’t go against the will of skies, he decided to start living again as a wander. This period happened to be when world war 2 had broken out and Grandmaster took part in the rebel against Japanese invadors in the areas of Chaozhou, Hai Feng and Lu Feng.
In an operation to release prisoners compratiots, Grandmaster looses his left palm. He returns back to Shantow to meet Cheung who understands that Grandmaster Lau escaped from sure death. So, he thinks that Lau will live a long life and officially starts to teach him high martial arts. Moreover, he asks from Lau to follow him on a long journey in every corner of the country, in order to gain experience. His left hand with the lost palm transforms into a powerful weapon looking like a hammer through tough training.
When Lau became acquaint with the most proggressive techniques, Cheung Man Wing travelled again in the country. Meanwhile, Lau Cze Chung returned to his home-birth, having the goal to find a new unique fighting style, he combined the strong points of the five most popular family styles of South Kung Fu and he enriched them with even more various fighting techniques of Chu, Fan and Chung families, Lu Hap (six combinations), Tai Chi and others.
Although, Grandmaster Lau Sze Chung lost one palm, he got the fame of the “tiger with three legs” in the circle of the martial arts, because of his skillful techniques and his unbelievable fighting force. He accepted to teach many students in the areas of Chaozhou, Hai Feng and Lu Feng. Great Grandmaster never asked for fame and money by using his abilities. On his journeys, he spread Choi Mok Kuen , he promoted Chinese martial arts and he practised the medical art in Chaozhou and in neighbouring areas, in order to relieve simple people.
